What is a return management system?
A return management system follows goods coming back from customers and couriers, and helps you decide what happens to each unit and to the money. Without it, returned stock goes back on sale unchecked, parcels disappear, and claims are missed.
O2M brings returns from every channel into one place. A returned unit never goes back on sale by itself. It waits until your team checks it, so damaged items are not sold to the next customer.
Parcels coming back to you, known as RTO (return to origin), are listed with the date they are expected. Their units stay held for the order, and nothing is written off by itself. With Warehouse Management, returns are received and graded in Return QC, and claims are tracked until the money is paid.
What Returns Management does for you.
Nothing is restocked by accident
Every returned unit waits for a decision.
Follow each parcel

Grade what comes back
Check each unit, then inward what passed.
Recover your money
Track claims with marketplaces and couriers.
Returns from every channel in one list.

Cancellations
Every cancelled order with who cancelled it and when. The cancelled amount is never taken off your revenue.
Search and filters
Find a return by return ID, order ID or customer, and filter by marketplace and date.
Counter and office returns
Store returns and exchanges, and returns of office orders, are handled with a credit note.
Follow every parcel on its way back.
Each parcel shows its AWB, courier, reason, expected date and the warehouse it goes to. Overdue parcels raise an alert, and you decide what happens next.
Parcels coming back
Follow every parcel on its way back, and receive it or mark it lost.

How parcels get listed
An order cancelled after shipping, a channel or Shiprocket reporting a return, or your own choice on the order or a failed delivery.
More days
If the courier says the parcel is still on its way, give it more days and it is expected again until the new date.
Mark lost
Units are written off and a claim is opened. If the parcel turns up later, receive it as usual and an unfiled claim is withdrawn.
Failed deliveries
With Warehouse Management, ask for another attempt before the parcel comes back.
Decide what happens to every unit.
Your QC desk receives the parcel, counts what came back and grades each unit. Your stock team then puts good units back and keeps damaged units apart.
Return quality check
Check and grade each returned unit, then inward what passed.

Grading
Grade each unit A to D, with a note and photos.
Inward
Units that passed go to a sellable bin, and damaged units go to a damaged bin. Only grade A goes back on sale.
Without Warehouse Management
Returned units wait in Returned items, where you add them to stock, mark them damaged or mark them not received.
Parcels with no order
Log a parcel with a torn label, then match it to an order, add it to stock, send it back or scrap it.
Recover money from marketplaces and couriers.
Claims are opened for you for damaged, missing, wrong and lost units, and followed until the money is paid.
Claims

Returns Management: your questions answered.
Do returned units go back on sale by themselves?
No. Returned units are held until someone decides what happens to them.
What is RTO?
RTO means return to origin: a parcel the courier brings back to you instead of delivering it.
What if a parcel comes back with no order?
Log it as a parcel with no order, then match it to an order, add it to stock, send it back or scrap it.
Can I give a late parcel more time?
Yes. Give it more days, receive it, or mark it lost.
What happens if a parcel marked lost turns up?
Receive it as usual. Its units come back, and a claim you have not filed yet is withdrawn for you.
Do I need Warehouse Management for returns?
No. Without it, returned units wait in Returned items for your decision. Warehouse Management adds Return QC with grading and claims.
When does a parcel turn overdue?
After 30 days by default. You can change this in your stock settings.
How can I reduce RTO?
Act on failed deliveries before the parcel comes back. On your own store, Automations can hold risky cash-on-delivery orders and confirm them on WhatsApp.
Close every return with a clear decision.
