Add products and variants

Add a product by hand, with images, details and variants.

Overview

A catalogue product is a simple product or a parent with its real variants, added by hand.

The product list

Opening a catalogue shows its products with image, title, Product ID, description, variant count, SKU, brand and category. The buttons along the top are where all work starts: Export products, Manage columns, Import file, Catalogue mapping and Add product.

Add a product

  1. 1Click Add product.
  2. 2Enter a Product ID, or click Auto-generate. It must be unique in this catalogue.
  3. 3Enter the Product title and Category (both required; in a catalogue created with its own category, Category is optional). Add a Product type too, such as T-shirt or Pants: it is optional, and groups your products when you map them to O2M categories.
  4. 4Leave SKU blank unless you already have one. Without one, a SKU is made from your SKU rules when the product is exported to Master Products.
  5. 5Add a Product description.
  6. 6Under Product images, click Upload images or paste an image link and click Add URL. Up to five images; at least one is needed before export.
  7. 7Check the Brand. In a single-brand catalogue it is already filled in.
  8. 8Add Additional details as label and value pairs, such as Material: Cotton.
  9. 9Click Save catalogue product. The product is saved as a draft.

Good to know  Images added by link are checked before they are used. A link that does not work is flagged on the product so you can replace it.

Look at a product

Click a product to open it. Product details shows its images and every attribute; Variants lists its variants; History shows who created and changed it, and when. The header shows the catalogue and the revision number, which goes up with every saved change.

To change anything, click Edit product. Shared attributes belong to the Master Product once the product is exported; catalogue-only details stay here.

Add variants

  1. 1Open the product, go to Variants and click Edit variants.
  2. 2Under Add new variation axis, name the axis (such as Size) and type its values separated by commas (S, M, L).
  3. 3Click Add variant for each real combination you sell, and set its options, SKU and images.
  4. 4Use the arrows to change the order, and the delete button to remove a variant you do not sell.
  5. 5Save the product.

Up to 6 axes and 200 variants per product. A variant without its own images uses the product's images.
