Catalogue mapping
Decide which catalogue field fills which Master Product attribute.
Overview
Catalogue mapping gives each catalogue product type its O2M category, names its variant axes, and decides which catalogue field fills which Master Product attribute when products are exported.
Why mapping matters
Your supplier calls it "Shade"; O2M calls it Colour. Your file says "Tees"; your O2M category is T-shirts. Catalogue mapping is where you tell O2M how each catalogue value fits your Master Products, once per catalogue. Every export from the catalogue then uses the same rules, so a hundred products are as consistent as one.
Open it with Catalogue mapping. O2M suggests matches where it can; you review them, fill the rest and save. The header shows how many fields are mapped.
Step 1: Categories and variants
O2M groups your products by their catalogue category and, within it, by product type, with the number of products in each. Each product type gets an O2M category: T-shirt becomes Clothing Tops > T-Shirts, Pants become Pants.
- 1O2M fills in a category for every product type. A category filled in this way is marked Auto-filled: check it, and click Looks right or search for another.
- 2To change a product type's category, search for it on that product type's row.
- 3For products with variants, check what each axis is, such as Size → Size or Shade → Colour. O2M fills these in from the axis names; change any that are wrong.
Tip Categories you chose in another catalogue, and categories your products already use with the same name, are filled in for you. In a catalogue created with a Category, every product type already has it; change a row only for products of another category.
A red mark means a decision is still needed; a green tick means the row is done. Products without an O2M category cannot be exported until they have one.
| You don't choose here | Why |
|---|---|
| Marketplace product type (such as Amazon's) | Worked out from the O2M category when you list the product. You can change it on the listing screen. |
| Marketplace variation theme | Picked from the variant axes (Size, Colour…) when you list. You can change it on the listing screen. |
Good to know To keep products with variants out of an export for now, click Leave out of export on their variants row. Click Include in export to bring them back.
Step 2: SKU and other attributes
Required by Master Product comes first. It lists what every Master Product needs, such as title, description, SKU, images and Key features. Each must come from a catalogue field. MRP and Selling price are optional here: map them under Other catalogue columns when the catalogue has them, or enter them on the export screen.
Key features are read from each product's own columns, so every product gets its own. Add one or more columns; a cell can hold several features separated by a new line, | or ;. There is no way to type one list for all products, because the same features on every product would be wrong for most of them.
Premium add-on O2M-SI writes key features on export for any product whose columns have none, and fills the category attributes the catalogue doesn't give. It also suggests O2M categories in Step 1. Without O2M-SI, a product needs its key features in the catalogue before it can be exported.
Other catalogue columns is collapsed. Open it to map the rest of your columns to a Target Master Attribute: a global O2M attribute, one of your custom attributes, or one of the Category attributes of the categories you chose in Step 1, such as Fabric or Neckline. Columns named like a category attribute, such as Colour or Material, are matched for you.
- 1Fill every field under Required by Master Product, including Key features.
- 2Open Other catalogue columns, search the catalogue fields and pick a target for each one you want in Master Products.
- 3Need an attribute that does not exist? Click New Custom Attribute; you are asked to confirm before it is created.
- 4Click Save Mapping.
Rules
- A field you leave unmapped stays in the catalogue only and never reaches a Master Product or a channel.
- Values can be converted on the way, such as BLK to Black, or grams to kilograms.
- Changing the mapping never changes products already exported. It applies to the next export.
